On a December afternoon in 1799, William Wordsworth and his sister Dorothy arrived at Dove Cottage – this was to become their first proper family home together since childhood.
Today in Dove Cottage visitors can experience the sights, sounds and smells of the past before emerging into the Garden-Orchard, a special place where William and Dorothy would walk, talk, write and relax in nature. In the Museum, follow the incredible story of the Wordsworths through journals, letters and objects and enjoy a selection of fun activities. With a Viewing Station, woodland walks and temporary exhibitions, there’s plenty to make a full day of your visit.
